Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust (TST) is currently seeking a General Manager to lead the organisation. This position is based in Taupō and reports directly to the Chairperson of Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust. This position currently has two other positions reporting to it.

TST manages the financial and whenua resources returned to Ngāti Tūwharetoa in the Central North Island Forests Iwi Collective settlement. As at 30 June 2020 TST had audited total assets of $70.6 million and equity of $56.9 million. Our mission, overarchingly is to actively improve the social, economic, and cultural wellbeing of Ngāti Tūwharetoa.

Key focus of the role includes:

  • Leading the implementation of the Strategic Plan.
  • Developing and implementing strategies and programs that provide pathways for Ngāti Tūwharetoa into safe and healthy homes.
  • Developing and enhancing Iwi and Hapū Relationships.
  • Developing and growing the commercial activities of the TST group of companies.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in senior management and leadership roles and demonstrate strong commercial acumen. Some experience in the Māori sector would be preferable. You will have the ability to enhance the culture of the Trust, facilitate effective communication in a variety of forums and have an appreciation of tikanga māori. An ability to communicate in Te Reo Māori would be a definite advantage, as would a tertiary qualification in business.

Recent experience in the housing sector would also be an advantage.
