Technical Building Assessor (KĀINGA INSPECTOR) – FIXED TERM

Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust (TST) is currently seeking a Kāinga Inspector to work within its He Iwi Kāinga division and represent the organisation as an ambassador for quality housing and positive social outcomes.  The role will primarily work in the areas of technical building inspection and assessment of homes, as well as the associated reporting.

TST manages the financial and whenua resources returned to Ngāti Tūwharetoa in the Central North Island Forests Iwi Collective settlement. As at 30 June 2020 TST had audited total assets of $70.6 million and equity of $56.9 million. Our mission, overarchingly is to actively improve the social, economic, and cultural wellbeing of Ngāti Tūwharetoa.

Key focus of the role includes:

  • Leading the building assessment and reporting of homes
  • Engaging and communicating with multiple stakeholders and interested parties.

As this is a new role within the organisation, the successful candidate will be instrumental in helping to design the processes and reporting in line with the organisation’s strategy.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be proactive, organised, methodical and able to communicate well to ensure the smooth running of the member information and basic business information. As a key customer, public and staff interface role you will need to be professional, efficient, highly confidential, ethical and personable, with the ability to be able to engage with whanau at all levels.

A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the building industry is preferred. A full driver licence is essential.

This position based in Taupo and reports directly to the Project Management Office Manager. The position is for a fixed term of 12 months.  It is a full time role, however it could also be made up of 2 part time roles as a job share option.  A job description is available on request.
