Welcome to Kāinga Manaaki.

He Iwi Kāinga proudly unveiled 14 Kāinga Manaaki homes in Tūrangi as part of our Te Iwiheke Pātata initiative. But this kaupapa is more than just providing homes—it’s about manaaki (supporting) whānau on their journey toward sustainable housing.

Through Kāinga Manaaki, we offer a wrap-around support model grounded in Te Whare Tapa Whā, ensuring that while whānau live in our whare, they are empowered in all aspects of their wellbeing—taha wairua (spiritual), taha tinana (physical), taha whānau (family), and taha hinengaro (mental and emotional health).

Our workshops and mentoring programmes help whānau:
Become great tenants – Understanding rights, responsibilities, and property maintenance.
Develop financial literacy – Budgeting, debt management, and preparing for homeownership.
Prioritise health and wellbeing – Shifting mindsets, fostering resilience, and strengthening community connections.
Set and achieve housing aspirations – Supporting pathways to homeownership through goal setting and education.
Engage with their community – Building social networks and contributing to shared kaupapa.
