For Ngāti Tūwharetoa, the endorsement Hui gave the green light to the establishment of the Tūwharetoa Settlement Trust (TST) which was

incorporated on 1 July 2009. It is a common law trust specifically set up to meet the requirements of a Post Settlement Governance Entity (PSGE).

The TST is fully mandated and recognised by the Crown as the PSGE for Ngāti Tūwharetoa.

Under the terms endorsed, TST has to;

• Finalise CNI negotiations
• Develop structures and policies for distribution of benefits to Ngati Tuwharetoa
• Manage the Ngāti Tūwharetoa portion of the CNI settlement
• Facilitate mana whenua rights of Ngāti Tūwharetoa within the CNI settlement
• Facilitate the establishment of suitable forestry Hapū cluster entities
